United States Defense Secretary, James Mattis has held talks with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in Turkish capital Ankara.
According to the pentagon, the meeting was to address concerns about the fight against Islamic State and give a message that Washington will not tolerate Russia’s annexation of eastern Ukraine.
Before the trip, the Pentagon said Mattis would emphasize the commitment of the United States to Turkey as a NATO ally, and strategic partner, to collaborate on efforts to advance regional stability.
