At least six men have been killed by Boko Haram jihadists in a village in northeast Nigeria, in what appears to be a targeted reprisal attack.
Local residents say nine Boko Haram fighters entered Kijimatari village in northeast Borno state Tuesday morning, breaking into the homes of six men including the village chief before slitting their throats.
They say the attackers carried guns and knives and evaded a nearby military checkpoint by entering the village through bush paths.
They also say the killings are a reprisal for the arrest of two Boko Haram members who moved into the village claiming to have been displaced from their homes.
