Image result for Nigerian Army War CollegeThe Nigerian Army  has established the Nigerian Army War College in Abuja to cater for the training shortfall of security officers.

Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai believes this will help commanders think out of the box, as the country continues to  fight terrorism in the region.

Defence Correspondent Sifon Essien reports that the Nigerian Army is poised to take the lead in the training of officers at the operational level.

The Chief of Army Staff is pleased that the college would bridge the gap in the training of field commanders which hitherto was lacking.

The inauguration comes at a time Nigerian and allied forces are pushing to crush terrorists in the region and the Minister of Defence is optimistic that training at the operational level is what is required to achieve success.

Thirty-two participants mostly Lieutenant Colonels and Colonels of the Nigerian Army are to undertake the 1st course and a study at the institution would become a criteria for promotion to the rank of Brigadier General.
