A Lagos based Human Rights Activist, Olawale Okunniyi said the use of dialogue is more important in resolving Nigeria’s National question order, rather than going the military way.
Speaking in an interview with TVC News on Tuesday, Okunniyi said the futility of military tactics is beginning to dawn on the Nigerian authorities in resolving the national question.
The activist said the issues at the public domain, like the sit at home and others are functions that all is not well with the Nigerian State and something needs to be done.
“I think it is more important to dialogue with warring parties rather than using military strength. The futility of military tactics is beginning to dawn on the Nigerian authorities in resolving the national question,” Okunniyi said.
He frowned at the arrest order placed leaders of the Arewa Youth Group, describing it as not the best way to resolve this.
“The arrest order placed on the leaders of the Arewa Youth Group will not solve the problem, rather it will aggravate it. It think in my own opinion, government should engage the warring parts rather using the military.
“In resolving the Nigerian question, a persuasive and not combative measure should be applied,” the Human Rights Activist said.
He however cautioned that those who go to dialogue must go with the mandate of the people they are representing and no authority should have has the power to change the resolution from the dialogue.
Okunniyi said a panel for truth, justice and reconciliation is needed to engage the dousing tension.
