Ethiopian will earn over $12 million dollars from meat exports to United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia during this month of Ramadan.
Ethiopia’s Institute for Animal and Dairy Products says it has begun to prepare meat products for the two markets.
Deputy Director- General of the Institute, Khalifa Hussein says his organisation is scouting for loans to be able to increase the volume of exports.
Ethiopia exports 1, 500 tons of meat products to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
While UAE is the leading destination for Ethiopia’s meat export with 60 percent share, Saudi Arabia has a share of 38 percent and the rest is exported to other Middle East countries.
