This is coming just as hearing in the suit filed against the alleged extension of the Chief Judge’s tenure began in Akure, the state capital.

TVC’s Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that  the suit was filed by an Akure-based lawyer, Femi Emmanuel who claimed that
extension of the tenure of the acting chief judge of Ondo state, Justice Tayo Osoba was not properly done.

At the resumed hearing of the case,  counsel to the Acting Chief Judge and the state government, Batife Philip withdrew his appearance for Justice Osoba after which  Genevieve Okoye from Dayo Akinlaja chambers announced her appearance for the acting Chief Judge.

This did not go down well with the prosecution counsel, Femi Emmanuel who noted that the memorandum of appearance from Akinlaja’s chambers was filed outside the stipulated time .

Emmanuel added that the two memoranda of appearance filed by the duo of Akinlaja and Philip cannot stand side by side  but one of the defence counsel refused to comment on the issue .

Emmanuel has petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation,  Abubakar Malami on the need to investigate the alleged age falsification by the State Acting Chief Judge.

He said the probe of the allegation is important, in order to get to the root of the matter.

The trial judge, Justice Aderemi Adegoroye adjourned the case to June 16, after ordering the prosecution counsel to file an application on the issue of memoranda of appearance.
