The United States is not happy with the “man-made” famine and ongoing conflict in South Sudan.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley is urging President Salva Kiir, to fulfill a month-old pledge of a unilateral truce.
She also condemned the deadlock among security council members, on how to deal with the civil war in the country.
The 15-member council failed last year, to get 9 votes to adopt a U.S.-drafted resolution to impose an arms embargo, and further sanctions on South Sudan.
This is despite warnings by U.N. officials of a possible genocide in the country, which descended into civil war in 2013.
