The death toll in the outbreak of Cerebrospinal Meningitis in parts of Nigeria has now risen to 1,114 in 22 weeks.
Nigeria’s Centre for Disease Control says the outbreak has affected four additional local government areas bringing the total to 226.
Zamfara State has the highest casualty; followed by Sokoto, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi and Yobe states.
So far, a total of 14,000 suspected cases have been identified from 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
