The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has reversed the conviction of former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Temisan Omatseye.
A Federal High Court in Lagos had sentenced him to five years in prison for alleged N1.5bn scam.
Justice Yargata Nimpar set aside the May the 20th ruling delivered by Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia which convicted Omatseye on a 27-count charge bodering on bid rigging and contract splitting.
He said the trial court did not properly evaluate the evidence.
