The Federal Government is set to issue a circular mandating all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to insure all government assets.

Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, dropped the clue in Abuja when he met with the National Insurance Commission’s governing board, NAICOM on Thursday.

Mustapha, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office (GSO), Dr Maurice Mbaeri, urged the NAICOM team to create a draft document outlining what they want the circular to include in order to aid the Office of the SGF in correctly explaining its contents.

He requested that a draft copy of the circular be sent to the SGF for review after which it will be released to the MDAs.

“The draft circular should reflect what you want. If it meets the SGF’s expectations, it will be issued to the appropriate MDAs,” he added.

Mbaeri encouraged NAICOM to “write for insurance premium decentralization among MDAs.”

Dr. Abubarkar Sani, Chairman of the National Insurance Commission’s (NAICOM) Governing Board, had earlier pleaded with the SGF to assist the Commission in implementing a mandatory insurance program for all MDAs.

Sani said the Commission is interested in seeing all government assets insured.
