TVC N. Senator Theodore Orji (Abia Central), has debunked insinuations that he planned to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying “I have no intention of jettisoning my relationship with the party, not now, not tomorrow. I love my party”.
Orji stressed that those jittery with the rumour, including former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Stanley Ohajuruka, who claimed he (Orji) would not be welcomed to the All Progressives Congress (APC), were mere rabble rousers.
He said Ohajuruka was only trying to draw attention to himself and “draw me out so that I may join issues with him and his like, but I will not give them that privilege”.
Ohajuruka went on social media to say APC would not welcome the former governor into its fold.
Orji said: “Let me tell you, if I decide to leave my party, the party I will join will be very happy because of my antecedent.
“I have a track record of success as a civil servant, and in politics, I have electoral value, unlike those who are spent forces in all ramifications of their lives. So don’t mind them, they just want me to notice them”.
Orji insisted that majority of those from the Southeast, leaving or have left the PDP, were doing so for personal reasons. He noted that Nigerians can serve Nigeria irrespective of political inclination.
“Those who are leaving the party, citing party problems as a reason, are not sincere, which is most uncharitable, especially when majority of them have benefitted hugely from it”.
