Oil bunkerers have been warned against their nefarious activities as some communities in Bayelsa and Rivers State show support for Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited in securing the trans-Niger pipelines across the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

Angiama, although being a small fishing hamlet in the heart of South Ijaw Local Government, remains one of the key places under pipeline surveillance by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, whose operational regions span many communities in Bayelsa, Rivers, and Abia State.

A solidarity march was conducted in the town with posters to emphasize their point as the locals support the company’s initiative to eradicate oil theft and oil bunkering within their operation regions, which is already producing results.

Addressing newsmen at Angiama Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, a Community Guard with Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, Prince Layefa Toikumoh A.K.A Three Lions of Niger Delta, explained that the media engagement was organised to set the records straight and correct the attendant mischief by detractors to sabotage its work.

Some Flashpoints of illegal bunkerers have already been identified and stopped in over 47 communities under the jurisdiction of Pipeline infrastructure, including Egbema in Rivers State.

Mr Toikumoh added that a core strategy is to meaningfully and constructively engage and work with critical stakeholders in communities in our areas of responsibility (AOR) to put an end to the grand theft of crude oil and other related products and as well curtail if not wipe out completely it’s attendant damage to our environment and ecology.

Pipeline Infrastructure hopes to continue working with key players in the oil-rich region, to secure the nation’s petroleum infrastructure in their operational areas.
