Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, has advised members of the People’s Democratic Party to be tolerant and ready to accept new members as the party expects more people to defect from other political parties.

Governor Tambuwal made the statement while in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, to meet with PDP stakeholders in the state to discuss the party’s presidential ticket.

Tambuwal commended the unity and effort of the party during the last Kebbi state local government election saying such efforts will help the party at the national level.

He urged the party members in Kebbi state to remain United, strong and focused saying such attribute will attract more people from other political parties into the party.

Governor Tambuwal noted that the PDP in Kebbi state is united, compact and strong and encouraged them to continue to work together as a family to attract more members from the opposition whom he says their party is having much challenge and their members will soon leave for the PDP in droves

The governor also expressed concern over the troubling security situation in the country which he said has affected every sector of the economy especially the education sector where many schools have been closed down in most communities across northern Nigeria due to the activities of the terrorists bandits.

Governor Tambuwal, was in Kebbi state in company of the former Governor of Sokoto, Attahiru Bafarawa, former Deputy Governor of the state, Mukhtar Shagari and former minister of power, Bello Suleiman, all of whom also appreciated the unity of purpose displayed by the Kebbi state PDP stalwarts and followers during the last Saturday local government election held in the state.

During the visit, all stakeholders in the party in Kebbi state were present, including national officers from the state, the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, former minister for special duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Ishaya Rinzi Bamaiyi (rtd), former director of counterterrorism in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and Gen. Sarkin-Yaki Bello.
