Mr Ugochinyere who is also the PDP candidate for Ideato North and South Federal constituency says Mr Kanu’s freedom will be in the interest of national Unity, equity and Justice.

He added that it will also help douse tensions in the Southeast region.

CUPP also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to respect the rulings of both the federal high court Abuja, a High Court in Umuahia, the voice of the United Nations and release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu from detention.

He explained that the health condition of Mazi Kanu was revealed by his lawyers, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly release the freedom fighter from the custody of the department of state services (ASS) without further delay.

Mr Ugochinyere, who spoke to journalists at his country home Akokwa in the Ideato North council area of Imo State, bemoaned the country’s persistent security challenges, insisting that the federal government, having addressed the agitations of the Niger Delta region, the North-East, and the Boko Haram sect, should apply the same measures to deal with those of the Southeast to reduce tension in the land.
