USHAFA KIDNAPPING: POLICE BEGIN RESCUE OPERATIONS

The police in Abuja have begun an operation to rescue persons kidnapped by gunmen in Ushafa, a suburb in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

The assailants shot and  killed one Benjamin Ogundare and abducted his wife and another member of his family at their residents behind the LEA primary school, a  few kilometers to the Lower Usuman Dam where the National Institute for Security Studies is located.

The assailants are yet to make any demand for ransom.

The attack has made residents apprehensive as they fear that informants to the attacks may still be within the area.

It’s the first of such attack this year in the area which in the first quarter of 2022 witnessed several kidnap incidents many which were unreported.

In the wake of the recent attack the  police have increased their patrols in a bid to track the kidnappers who are believed to be hiding in the hills around the community.

Villages in the area council share boundaries with communities in Kaduna where ongoing operations to stamp out banditry is yielding some results.
