Meanwhile, the people’s Democratic party PDP has flagged off the campaign for the re-election of Seyi Makinde in Oyo state. The ceremony took place at the ancient Maple Hall in Ibadan the state capital.

Thousands of PDP supporters across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State
trooped out in their numbers to attend the flag of the second term campaign of their governor in their usual uniform outfit because of the people’s Democratic their support for the governor .

Governor Makinde thanked the people of the state and party faithful for entrusting the destiny of the state under his care.

He assured them of more developmental projects if re-elected.

Social Democratic Party in Adamawa, Dr Umar Ardo is a former Special Assistant on States and Local Government Affairs to the Vice President and a former Assistant on research and strategy to the president in 2003.

Speaking on TVC’s Politics Tonight on how grounded the SDP is in Adamawa, he noted that the party is very well.

According to him, candidates for all positions have been nominated.

He said two out of three aspects of winning an election has been concluded by the party which are persuading and funding. He added that what remains is the mobilisation which the SDP is already waiting for also noting that the party is confident of winning the election.

Speaking on the circumstances which led to his being forced out of the PDP and if it could have been avoided, he said the circumstances which led him to leave the party are several.

According to him, the PDP has never behaved in line with the rule of law, never acted on the basis of truth, and has always skirted the party’s constitution and functioned in an unfit manner for a political party.

He stated that he joined the Social Democratic Party because it is about the longest political party in Nigeria and probably the second oldest.

Mr Ardo said the SDP has structure, support based and it is a known party.

The SDP governorship candidate says he is positive things will be different this time as regards winning election.

He stated that both APC and PDP got into positions of power through rigging of most their elections.

He said when an election is contested against an incumbent but in a failed system and the blame goes to the incumbent, it means the incumbency will no longer be at advantage.

Mr Ardo said things have deteriorated since the coming of PDP and the APC and PDP back into the state, things have not really worked.

“The economy has collapse, security has collapsed, exchange rate at the national level has collapsed, there is high cost of living and low level of earning and people have generally revolted.

“We are winning the election in Adamawa state, because people have been persuaded to our candidacy, we have the structure and we are also determined to mobilise on election day.

“Again, the BVAS system of election which has virtually removed all man-made rigging schemes which are multiple voting, vote allocation, free changing of result, and irregular voting.

“Those of us who are contesting against these other parties have the advantage because the election is going to return like a referendum on the performance of the incumbent and they cannot pass the test,” He said.

Speaking on his forth attempt at becoming the governor of the state, Mr Ardo said he is running because the issues to bring development to the state still remains.

Highlighting some of the reasons, the SDP candidate said “he is contesting to conquer poverty in the state which has become endemic, hunger, illiteracy, diseases, infrastructure deficit and low level of ethics in the society which includes stealing of public funds and the likes.

He said these issues will continue to remain unless something is done about it.

He added that he has always advocated good governance hence part of the reason why he is also contesting.

EEDC begins mobile MAP metering to customers in Anambra The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has announced that it has begun operations for the year 2023 by introducing mobile MAP metering to its customers in Anambra State, South-East Nigeria, to ensure they have access to prepaid meters within 48 hours. The Metering Assistance Program (MAP) is a metering intervention designed and approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to narrow the sector's existing metering gap. It will be recalled that in June 2022, EEDC launched the pilot of mobile MAP metering in Enugu and has executed the same in several locations within the metropolis. According to a statement issued by Mr. Emeka Ezeh, EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, the exercise, which allows customers to pay and get metered, and reimbursed with the value of the cost of meter through energy over a period, is a conscious way the company has adopted to close the existing metering gap in its network. “It is designed to be implemented according to Feeders, with 3 different locations selected within the areas covered by the Feeder, where metering will be going on simultaneously. Customers within these areas will be pre-notified of when the exercise will be carried out within their neighbourhood,” he said. Ezeh emphasised that with Ogidi District taking the lead, its Umunya Feeder has been selected for the kick-off on January 10th, 2023, and the exercise will take place concurrently for three days in the following locations: St. Paul Anglican Church, Ogidi, Ochendo Hall, Ogidi, and Afor Market Townhall Office, Obosi, Anambra state. “Customers residing in the listed locations are expected to visit the site along with a valid form of identification (either Drivers License, Voters Card, NIN or International Passport) and a copy of their bills. At the location, EEDC officials will assist customers with the MAP application process, and installation will be made once payment is confirmed. “The Single-phase meter goes for N63,061.27 while the Three-phase meter is N117,910.69. The prices are all inclusive of VAT.” Customers are therefore encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and get metered, bearing in mind that they will be reimbursed with the value of the cost of the meter through energy, over a period. This exercise is carried out by EEDC in conjunction with its MAPs (Meter Asset Providers) – MOJEC International Limited and Advanced Energy Management Services (AEMS). The company reaffirmed that it is in its best interest to have all its customers metered, which informed its commitment towards ensuring that its customers are metered, as that is the only way they can manage their consumption and pay for what they consume.
