The people of Akegbe community in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State have presented a traditional staff known as Offor to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party. Peter Mbah in the state Governorship election.
The event was witnessed by the Governor of Enugu State Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani at the 2023 Akegbe Ugwu Cultural Festival.
The people Annual festival, which holds in January, attracts Indigenes of the community home and abroad, who traveled home to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of their community.
To many, the presentation of the Offor by their traditional ruler and council of chiefs from the community , symbolises an endorsement of the PDP candidate for the February Governorship election.
Gunmen murder Obosi community leader in Anambra
The President-General of Obosi Community, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon Ike Okolo has been reportedly shot dead.
Okolo was said to have been shot dead at a petrol station in the community by yet-to-be-identified gunmen at about 8 pm, a day after the new year.
A video circulating on the internet showed that the community leader was shot right inside his SUV jeep as he sat in a pool of his own blood, behind the steering of the car.
Obosi is one town known to be notorious for cult clashes, a development the President-General is said to have stood against, since he ascended office.
