Transfer of personnel at Ajah station done to boost professionalism, instill discipline -Hundeyin

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Abiodun Alabi, has ordered the transfer of all police officers from the Command’s Ajah Division.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a Telephone call with TVC news senior
reporter Ivy Kanu confirmed this latest development.

The police officers drawn from the commander are respected to take up new responsibilities at other stations.

The development followed recent incidents of extrajudicial killing of two Nigerians, most recently, a Lagos-based female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, who was allegedly shot dead on Christmas day by ASP Drambi Vandi.

Speaking on this developing story, the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the decision was taken by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Abiodun Alabi.

He said this decision was taken on the on the 25th of December last year after the killing of the of the Lawyer.

He added that when the NBA visited the commissioner of police the next day, 26th of December, the CP told them of his plan to change all the officers, and a few days after, the the plan was perfected and in the in the coming days this should have materialised fully.

Hundeyin stated that this was done to boost professionalism because there had been complaints that many of these cops had overstayed and had created a kind of bond with some of the bad guys in the area.

He noted that apart from boosting professionalism, the transfer was also part of measures to instill discipline.

The PPRO added that the personnel transferred will be closely monitored in their various division to ensure that they don’t bring any form of unprofessional behavior to their new
domain.

Speaking on the ASP Drambi Vandi case, Mr Hundeyin stated that the matter is in court and journalists are expected to be there, January 30th, 2023 for the hearing.
