Image result for I will resign if it will bring peace - MakarfiThe national caretaker committee chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Ahmed Makarfi says he has no problem resigning if that would bring peace to the party.

The former Kaduna state governor wants the factional party chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff to also leave the scene.  But he fears it would be difficult to get Sheriff to stand down.

He disclosed this to Correspondent on Sunday in Kaduna.

Makarfi said they are aware of the plan for a new party he called APDP. But Makarfi said his group is not behind the move.

He noted they are open to all options, but would not be foolish to reveal their plan so soon.

Reacting to the threat of a contempt suit against him by PDP chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff. Makarfi said Sheriff’s intentions for the PDP aren’t good. On whether he is ready to step aside with Sheriff for peace in the party, Makarfi said he would happily do.

But he fears it’s already a tough one for the former Borno governor.

On the proposed 2019 election dates by INEC, he said only time shall tell. He recalled that time tables had before now been tinkered with. Makarfi also faulted Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson for submitting the party’s convention report to Ali Modu Sheriff.

Makarfi however assured that the PDP remains a force, any day.
