Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library inaugurated in Ogun state

Image result for Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library inaugurated in Ogun stateThe ECOWAS Chairperson, and Liberian President, Helen Sirleaf Johnson has inaugurated the first Presidential Library in Africa, the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, located in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Nigeria.

She noted that the project remains an African pride and congratulated Nigerians for setting the pace. She called on other African countries to emulate the idea of preserving the past to help the future generation.

TVC News Ogun State Correspondent, Kazeem Olowe reports that the event paraded notable personalities across the world including a representative of the Queen of England.

Serving and former presidents from different African countries, diplomats, state governors, ministers, traditional rulers among others stormed the rock city to take a look at what the library has in store.

Speaking about the significance of the library to Nigeria and other African countries, Sirleaf Johnson said the continent takes pride in having such a project on its soil.

While commenting on the Project and the personality of Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo said the project will help in preserving the past and shaping the future.

He described Obasanjo as the Authentic African Icon.

The library contains some personal belongings of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, his speeches, gifts received from other parts of the world, his prison diary among others.
