Supporters of the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, have staged a solidarity rally in the Nguru community of Yobe state.

The Political gladiators and a large number of supporters in the Zone C Senatorial district say they have thrown their weight behind Senator Ahmed Lawan and expressed their solidarity with the president of the Senate.

The Senator Lawan’s supporters converged at Nguru town to express their displeasure over the crisis bedevilling the Zone C over the ongoing squabble between and Bashir Machina both of whom are members of the All Progressives Congress.

Some of the leaders of the Solidarity who spoke with TVC News said the movement is for the All Progressives Congress, they threatened that if the All Progressives Congress do not address the issueof the fight conclusively before election day, they would ensure that the selected APC Senatorial candidate who is not the current President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, do not get two third votes from zone C.

They say Senator Ahmed Lawan has done too much for his constituency and his people for him to be sidelined and made a pawn by some political bigwigs.

The President of the Senate Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has been involved in an ongoing drama of sort over the Yobe North Senatorial Ticket of the All Progressives Congress with Bashir Machina who was the winner in the first Senatorial Primary conducted by the party for the district in Yobe State.

The Party organised another election for the district after the loss of the President of the Senate in the Special National Convention and Presidential Primary of the Party held at the Eagle Square in Abuja in June.

Senator Lawan won the re-run primary for the district and was later presented as the Party’s candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission and a dissatisfied Bashir Machina went to Court to challenge the decision.

The matter has now gone as far as the Court of Appeal with observers expecting it to reach the Supreme Court with both parties dug in over the matter.
