Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has appealed to community associations in the state to assist in complementing government’s effort in developing the state.
He made the appeal during the 57th annual national conference of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union held at the forecourt of the Emir’s palace.
The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) is the apex socio-cultural group for all sons and daughters of Ilorin emirate.
It holds its annual conference at the forecourt of the Emir’s palace to deliberate on the development of the Emirate.
Its major project this time around is the completion of the Ilorin Emirate skills acquisition centre which is meant to train and empower youths in the emirate.
This, the governor says, should be completed on time and appeals that more efforts should be put in place to make Ilorin emirate exemplary to others.
He donated a sum of #25 million to support the project.
Both the national president of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, Aliyu Uthman-Otta and the permanent secretary, federal ministry of interior, Shuaib Belgore harp on the need to put in more efforts for the development of Ilorin and its indigenes
Their plea is also corroborated by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara state council of Chiefs, Dr Ibrahim Zulukarnaini Gambari who appeals to the descendants of Ilorin to remain peaceful, united and be committed to the development of the emirate.
The Ilorin Emirates Descendants Progressives Union has been at the forefront of the Political, Economic and Infrastructural Development of the City of Ilorin and has been a hugely successful Union that has helped in bringing the people of the City together irrespective of Politics or any Other consideration.
Ilorin Emirate comprises 5 local government areas. They are: Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Asa and Moro though Politically Moro is a part of the Kwara North Senatorial District while all the Other Local Governments in Ilorin Emirates are in the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
