Image result for Nigerian service chiefs 2017The Nigerian military says it contributed to reducing unemployment in the country through massive recruitment of personnel in 2016.

Airforce and Army chiefs disclosed this when they appeared before their respective committees at the National Assembly to defend their 2017 budgets.

TVC News’ Sumner Sambo reports that military chiefs at various hearings at the National Assembly told their committees the state of their 2016 budgets and successes recorded last year.

The Airforce led by its top hierarchy says apart from helping to defeat terrorists, it recruited over 2,000 personnel to shore up it’s operations thereby reducing Nigeria’s huge unemployment challenges.

On its part, the Army says it’s recruitment in 2016 increased its overhead hence it is seeking an upward review of its 2017 budget to capture new soldiers.

The military chiefs later entered into closed-door sessions where they informed federal lawmakers of their successes and challenges in terms of purchase of new combat equipment and training of personnel to conclude the war on terrorism.
