The House of Representatives says the joint public hearing organized by the two Appropriation committees of the National Assembly on the 2017 Appropriation Bill is an initiative of Speaker Yakubu Dogara.
It believes the move will ensure transparency in the budgeting process, and prevent a repeat of the national embarrassment occasioned by the budget padding allegations in the aftermath of the 2016 Appropriation Bill
The Lower legislature says at least two third of the Appropriation Committee must sign the Committee’s report before it is accepted by the National Assembly.
