Community healthcare practitioners seek improved welfare

Community Healthcare practitioners in Nigeria are calling for attention of governments at all levels on the Improvement of their welfare to offer full employment not casualization and security in the line of duty.

The health workers who have just concluded their annual scientific conference say if they are given accommodation in healthcare facilities emergency, will more effectively attended to.

Community Health Care is a program embedded in the Primary Health Care system in Nigeria. It is a system of care, plans to make Medical Services accessible at the Grassroots.

Top on the list of crucial needs being put forward by the national body of community healthcare practitioners holding its annual scientific conference in badagry Lagos is a demand that the government should see to providing accommodation for its members within Primary Health Care Facilities as well as ambulances to convey Community dwellers like pregnant women for speedy care during emergencies.

The community healthcare practitioners say they are not happy about being allegedly segregated as casual workers.

The healthcare providers want government at all levels to beef up security within communities to curb further kidnapping of members at the grassroots.

To fulfill the objective of universal basic healthcare, health-care observers suggest community health care, which is incorporated in the Primary Healthcare System, must be given intentional attention in order to reduce Nigeria’s mortality rates from various diseases.
