The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of New Partnership for Africa’s Development/African Union Development Agency (AUDA/NEPAD) has solicited collaboration with the Benue State Goverment for better service delivery to Nigerians.

Gloria Akobundu made the request during a courtesy call to Governor Samuel Ortom in his office just as she noted the importance of rebuilding the agricultural sector.

Benue State, the food basket of the nation, has in the past few years dropped in terms of productivity.

This can be traced to various factors such as farmer- herder crises, flooding, and the Covid 19 lockdown.

The chief executive officer of new partnership for Africa’s development is here to help benue catch up with global standards in agricultural practices.

She shares with the State Governor the importance of her visit to the state.

Responding, Governor Ortom appreciates the effort of Federal government but does not leave out his demands.

Supporting companies and sponsors also share the impact roles.

This intervention, in the long run may attract more investors to the agricultural the sector, resulting in farmers beginning to see better profits for their labour.

The New Partnership For Africa Development was established as a part of the new deal to develop Africa following the revamping of the Organisation of African Unity to the African Union with a Peer Review Mechanism also built in known as the African Peer Review Mechanism.

Both NEPAD/AUDA have been in existence since then with the Federal Government and Other Stakeholders all asking for it to deliver better service to Nigerians and Nigeria as a Country.

While some believe that NEPAD/AUDA is delivering for Nigeria and should do better, many Other observers are of the opinion that the African Union Development arms have not touched Nigeria or Nigerians positively since inception in 2010.

The years ahead will determine whether it is able to deliver on its promise and set aims of Coordinating continent wide development projects on behalf of the African Union.
