Senators say the poverty rate in Nigeria is alarming and want the executive to step up efforts at curbing hunger, by properly funding food production and job creation programmes.
The Senators made the submission while debating the general principles of the 2017 budget.
They promised to review the spending plan, by focusing more on expenditure related to reducing poverty and hunger.
