The International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD, is positive the mid term review of the value chain development programme, will facilitate its greater effectiveness.
The fund, at a meeting with its review Mission ahead of the start of operations, sought that it effectively carries out its responsibility with a view to attaining desired results.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD’s, value chain development programme is centered on enhancing incomes and food security of rural farmers.
It particularly focuses on poor rural households engaged in production, processing and marketing of rice as well as cassava in targeted states on a sustainable basis.
Its target benefits are one hundred and thirty five thousand farmers along value chains in nine states through a 4p model.
A mid term review mission is now to take stock of the VCDP’s activities in areas of validating its relevance and components .
The mission will assess what parts of the programme are working and what are not, while reviewing the implementation performance in connection with outcomes and impact.
Stakeholders to the project say the review is apt considering shocks faced by food security owing to external and internal forces including the Russia Ukraine war, as well as domestic issues including forex, inflation and even floods.
IFAD seeks that actors in the mid term review mission carry out their tasks effectively for greater effectiveness of the value chain development programme for the benefit of small holder farmers and by extension national food production and security.
