Stockbrokers induct General Babangida as Honourary Fellow

The Nigeria Institute of Stock Brokers has invested former president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida as an honourary fellow of the institute as part of its 30 years anniversary celebration as a chartered institute.

The investiture which took place at his hilltop residence in Minna was conducted by members of the governing council of the institute .
They said the vision of former president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida to charter the institute at its early days of formation strengthened its ability to contribute to the Nigerian stock market.

in the conduct of their affairs affirmed that successful countries are built by strong institutions and that was his inspiration to grant the institute a charter in 1992.

His faith in Nigeria coupled with the resilience of its people has been further strengthened the desire.

President and chairman of council chartered institute of Stockbrokers Oluwole Adeosun said the capital market the time was an emerging concept in the Nigerian financial space which is dominated by the money market banking system.
They said the vision of former president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida to charter the institute at its early days of formation strengthened its ability to contribute to its ability to guide the steer the operations of the Nigerian stock market.

The institute was Established in 1990 and chartered in 1992 under the leadership of the then president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

After 30 years of operations the institute has over 3,000 members and former president Ibrahim is the 6th investee.

The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria was approved under the Presidency of General Ibrahim Babangida when he was Military President.
