The minister spoke after inspecting road projects funded by the federal government in Ede, Iwoye, Ipetu Ijesa, Ile Ife, Apoti, and Ilesha.

Fashola said the amount covered the cost of eight emergency road repairs and major road/bridge construction in some parts of the state.

According to him, some of the roads receiving attention under emergency road repair include; Iwo-Osogbo road, Akoda-Ede-Osogbo road, Ife-Ifetedo-Ondo state boundary road, Ipetu-ljesa-Apoti-Ondo state boundary road, Ede-Kuta, Ilesa-Ijebu-Jesa road, and Sekona-Ife-Mayfair road.

The minister said, “Federal Controller of Works across the federation were asked to submit proposals for road repairs in their respective states for intervention by the Federal Government.

Contractors have been mobilised to all the listed roads and work are at different stages of completion. Several contractors are involved.

In Osun alone, we are executing road projects valued at about N113.67 billion under the emergency roads repair intervention and major road projects.

The projects according to the minister have created 10,000 direct jobs, while indirect job employment opportunities created will be in the neighborhood of 30,000 in Osun.

Also, materials for the construction are being sourced within the state and that is creating a boom and providing jobs for several people as well.
