International donors have pledged a quarter of a billion euros in aid for Lebanon five days after the explosion which devastated the nation’s capital, Beirut.
But an online donor summit arranged by France has called for reforms to be made as clashes continue amid anger and fears over the effect of the explosion on the economy.
President Macron was the first world leader to visit Beirut after the devastating explosion which killed at least 158 people, wounded some 6,000 and left an estimated 300,000 homeless.
The blast at the warehouse holding more than 2,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate has focused local outrage on perceived Government corruption and incompetence.
