Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson has attributed the peace and safety in the state to the commitment and dedication of security agencies.

The governor, according to a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, spoke at a cocktail party held in honour of security chiefs in the state.

Dickson said security men sometimes paid dearly with their lives, adding that his administration made huge investment on security to complement the efforts of various agencies.

Dickson said the government was working to ensure that the state attained a higher security status, describing Bayelsa as the safest state in the Niger Delta region.

He said: “Government has put in place first class security infrastructure to keep the state safe to protect the tourism industry for visitors and investors. Making Bayelsa safe is the responsibility of all, in order to protect the investments in the state.

“A world class infrastructure without security is a wasteful investment that will not attract anybody or investors.”

He said the event was an opportunity to interact with the security chiefs to bring the government closer to security agencies.
