Image result for Ogun Police Community Relations reward officers who refused a bribeAs the year 2016 winds down, the Police Community Relations in Ogun State has honoured five Policemen who rejected a bribe of N50,000 from suspected assassins who were trying to escape with a victim’s car.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Ahmed Iliyasu says such a gesture will spur policemen to do more for the society.

TVC News Kazeem Olowe reports that in what looks like an exceptional case in the conduct of men of the Nigerian Police force, especially those in the lower ranks, a team of Policemen under the Ogun State Command rejected an offer of N50,000 from some men who were heading to the eastern part of the country from Lagos.

The police insisted that the three men must prove that they own the vehicle they were travelling in and allow the vehicle to undergo a thorough search.

Their exemplary bravery, according to the chairman of the Police Community Relations in Ogun State, Ibraheem Olaniyan led to the discovery of who they are and what they had done.

He noted that if they had collected the bribe, the perpetrator of the evil act might not be known.

One of the rewarded officers couldn’t hide his joy and assured Nigerians that the gesture will spur him and his colleagues do more in terms of protection of lives and property in the country.

Other stakeholders at the event also commended the Nigerian police for trying to bring change into their day to day operations and advised the leaders to fish out the bad eggs.
