FG officially launches Digital Switchover Project in Abuja

Image result for Analog transmissions in nigeriaThe federal government on Thursday in Abuja officially launched the Digital Switchover Project from the Analog  transmission to Digital Transmission in Nigeria.

Speaking at the ceremony, the chairman of the Digital Transmission Team (DTT), Edward Amana, said the strong political will displayed by the current administration as well as the commitment of the minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed culminated into the success recorded.

On his part, the minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed commended the commitment of president Mohammed Buhari in ensuring that Nigeria meets up with the deadline of the switchover. The minister also lauded the selfless efforts of the Digital Transmission Team, DTT lead by its chairman, Edward Amana.

“Let me start by commending the high level of commitment displayed by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, ably represented here today by his excellency, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) towards the successful digital switchover and in ensuring that our country does not again miss the June 2017 deadline.

“It is equally important to specially appreciate the selfless efforts and spirit of patriotism displayed by the Digital Transmission Team, DTT led by its chairman, Edward Amana and those that worked form the background to ensure successful switchover in the country.

” I am delighted to see this day notwithstanding the hurdles we’ve encountered. It i my believe that when the going gets tough, it is only tough that gets going. We have put in more into this project and we cannot afford to fail. So, the June 2017 deadline is irreversible.

“Let me thank the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, and every other organisation who has in one way or the day contributed to the success of the official launch today.

“The Digital Transmission switchover is huge project that will not only profit broadcast organisation but Nigerians as a whole.

“I thank you all for your support and commitment.

In his remark, President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by vice president Yemi Osinbajo described the Digital Switchover in Nigeria as laudable. He reaffirmed the federal government’s support and commitment in ensuring that the June 2017 deadline becomes a reality.

The official launch was well attended by top government officials comprising of serving minister and members of the national Assembly. Among those in who are: the minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, his Communication counterpart, Adebayo Shittu, Minister of State for Environment, Senate Committee on Information and the minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed who’s the host.
