The Katsina state government has secured the release of twelve out of the nineteen persons kidnapped by bandits on the twenty second of March.

A bus conveying passengers from Minna, the Niger state capital, had been intercepted along Kankara road by unknown gunmen.
TVC News Correspondent, Abdullatif Yusuf reports that the vicitims looked traumatised and very tired, with most of them covered with blood stains, evidence of the beating and humiliation they had to endure in the hands of their abductors.

Kidnapping has become a regular occurrence in Katsina, with the resumption in the activities of bandits across the state

Even recently a similar attack was carried out along this axis on some youths on their way to the NYSC orientation camp in zamfara state.

The Katsina state government is not resting on its oars and has taken on the assistance of repentant bandits to help combined security reduce banditry in the state.

The state government disclosed that although the release of these victims was negotiated, no ransom was paid.

The government calls on citizens to be extra vigilant in all matters concerning security and safety.
