The Anambra state population has been urged to assist the National Population Commission in its objective to provide Nigeria with accurate demographic statistics by participating in the next Census.
Mr. Chidi Ezeoke, the commissioner representing Anambra State in the National Population Commission, made the call during a two-day workshop on the Compendium of Locality on the 2023 Population Housing Census, which was organised by the Commission in collaboration with the Anambra State government in Awka.
The compendium of localities, according to Mr. Ezeoke, will be presented to President Muhammadu Buhari prior to the 2023 Population and Housing Census. He said it is intended to be a compilation of the opinions of stakeholders from all over the federation and will be published in the Gazette as the names and locations of the nation.
He gave assurance that this would be purposely relevant in the drive towards sustainable national development, noting that the Commission was committed to ensuring that everything about the census was done professionally.
The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, was represented by Mrs Onyinyechi.
