The United States government has launched the West African Trade and Investment Hub expected to create more than three hundred million dollars in private sector investment and provide jobs for about forty thousand Nigerians.
The hub is a five year project by USAID which will focus on four nations in West Africa: Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria.
Nigeria has been marked out to serve as the hub’s centre in the revitalised trade hub. For the initial implementation of the project, seven States in Nigeria will benefit from the hub
The United States remains the largest foreign investor in Nigeria as trade between Nigeria and the United States is about ten billion dollars annually.
The launch of this hub showed the commitment of the United states to ensuring Nigeria realizes its aim of expanding businesses beyond oil
The project will help Nigeria entrepreneurs turn their dreams into reality as about 40,000 jobs will be provided, 50 per cent of which is reserved for women
