As 2023 general election draws near, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege has appealed to the Itsekiri ethnic nationality to vote massively for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other All Progressive Congress candidates in the 2023 general elections.

The Deputy President of the Senate made the appeal in Warri, Delta State during a visit to an APC chieftain, Ayirimi Emami who himself admitted that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidency is an Itsekiri project which should prosecuted with all vigour to ensure victory.

Omo-Agege stated that the Itsekiri tribe was well-known for contributing the majority of funds for Delta state through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), but received nothing in return.

Omo-Agege identified the Itsekiri people as distinct, stating that “the current quo is not good enough for the wellbeing of the Itsekiri people, thus we need to rewrite the narrative of marginalization that the Itsekiris have suffered.”

According to him, the 2023 governorship election would be a watershed moment in the state’s politics, and he urges Itsekiris to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President, as well as other APC candidates at all levels.

He stated that as a senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, there is no community he has not attracted development to in his district
