The Northeast development commission has pledged to support the de-radicalization of repentant Boko haram combatants’ code named ‘operation safe corridor’.
Managing Director of the commission Goni Alkali made the commitment during a visit to the camp where the former fighters are being trained in vocational skills.
Operation safe corridor has continued to expand.
From the first batch of 97 to the second batch of 243 and now over six hundred former Boko Haram fighters.
Operation safe corridor is a critical element in defeating the insurgency in Nigeria’s northeast region.
The managing director of the northeast development commission took the time to interact with the clients.
The military briefed their guests about operations in the camp and their achievements, they also showed off the vocational skills taught to aid self-reliance
after the reintegration process.
The operation is far from perfect. Some of the challenges it faces are inadequate logistics and infrastructure.
While promising to assist the operation, Mr Alkali is pleading that more insurgents drop their weapons and embrace peace.
After ten years of fighting with bombs and bullets, the Nigerian government hopes that the soft touch of operation safe corridor would land the killer blow that would knockout insurgency in the country.
After seeing what this people have done to the Nigerian state tell me which community are they going stay and how sure is the Nigerian government that nigeriance have forgiving them, or that they (B/H) will not cause more harm than good…
