The People of Idumugbe village in Asaba, capital of Delta State have expressed shock at the demolition of some buildings on a piece of land in Akwu Ulo by the state government.
However, in a swift response, the Delta State Government stated that it is merely safeguarding the piece of land it has purchased that was previously encroached upon by some individuals.

Spokesman for IIdumugbe Village Eugene Umunna said the action of government is not justifiable.
According to Mr Umunna, the community has a Writ of Possession dated 1976 over the land, which is located off the Immigration axis of the Asaba-Ughelli road, as well as a Warrant of Possession dated May 2004.
He added that the community had a court order on the mentioned land, which barred all intrusion on it, among other documents to verify possession.
The last heard of the disputed piece of land was when the Idumugbe People marched to Asaba’s Palace of Asagba to deliver the documents and two Supreme Court judgements that they say confirm their ownership of the site.
Some of the property owners who spoke to newsmen said they bought their parcels of land from the Idumu-Ugbe Community after being assured that the estate was free of disputes.
