Governors of the five South East states have agreed to set up a joint security patrol in all major highways as measure to contain rising insecurity in the region.

They made this known after four hours behind closed door in a meeting held in Enugu.

The South East Governors are meeting for the first time, after the March 17th Anambra state Governorship election that produced Governor Chukwuma Soludo as winner.

They converged on Enugu for the first time after months without meeting.

The meeting is coming on the heels of rising cases of kidnapping, arson killings, occasioned by unknown gunmen in the region.

The Governors after four hours behind closed doors resolved to set up 24 hours joint patrol security team to man major highways in the region.

The governors also distanced themselves from the claim that Eastern Security Network ESN was their brainchild.

While commiserating with families that lost lives and property in the recent flooding, the South East Governors appealed to the Federal government to dredged Rivers in the South East.

The Five South East state Governors believed political solution is still possible with respect to the case of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Governors of Anambra, Chukwuma Soludo and his Imo State Counterpart Hope Uzodinma were represented by their deputies.
