Nigerians have been advised to adopt agricultural practices as a strategic measure to combat the persistent food scarcity challenges facing the country as well as complement the ongoing efforts to enhance food supply.
Lawmaker representing Oyo Federal Constituency, Akeem Adeyemi gave the advice during empowerment programme in Oyo town.
According to reports, one in every 10 Nigerians experiences severe hunger and between June and August 2024, about 31.5 million Nigerians have been predicted to face severe food shortages and scarcity.
Concerned about this situation, the Federal Government has continued to intensify efforts to avert this crisis through several measures, especially with the president’s current decision to remove tariffs on imported grains and other food items.
While speaking during an empowerment programme, lawmaker representing Oyo Federal constituency says his initiative to train his constituents in agriculture was aimed at tackling food shortages in the country.
Also, in commemoration of one year anniversary of the 10 Assembly, the lawmaker also inaugurated some inner roads in Oyo town, with the provision of grants to his constituents to boost their various business.
These gestures by the lawmaker underscores the importance of grassroots development and sustainable solutions to national challenges.
