The Sahara School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka has been established, according to the leading energy and infrastructure conglomerate Sahara Group, as a venue for promoting ideas and solutions that will support sustainable development and African competitiveness on a global scale.
Ejiro Gray, Director, Governance and Sustainability at Sahara Group, stated that Sahara would work with UNILAG to transform the school into a top-notch facility that will offer solutions to present-day problems with a focus on, among other things, the future of energy, entrepreneurship, data science, digital arts and culture, artificial intelligence and robotics, and fintech.

Gray said the leading energy and infrastructure conglomerate was delighted to collaborate with the University of Lagos to deliver a world-class facility that would inspire future generations of innovators and entrepreneurs at the groundbreaking event on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Faculty of Social Sciences Lecture Theatre.
She congratulated the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, Management, staff and students on the University’s 60th anniversary, applauding the institution for sustaining the tradition of excellence and actively promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
Gray stated that the Sahara School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship would be open to young people who want to make a difference and create solutions to future challenges today, with a focus on areas such as the future of energy, entrepreneurship, data science, digital arts and culture, artificial intelligence and robotics, and fintech, among others.
Gray estimates that the project will be completed in 24 months, with clear sustainability indices such as seamless maintenance, inclusiveness, transparency, relevance and scalability of modules/inventions, access to strategic/financial advisory, and collaboration for regional and global impact.
