The Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman says the essence of community policing is to create mutual understanding between the Police and the people with a view to nipping criminality in the bud
He made the assertion at a two-day workshop for Stakeholders on Community Policing held in Enugu state, South East zone.
South East region is regarded as the home of self-made individuals, whose Ingenious torch in business contributes to the growth and development of the sub region.

Aside from being the center of commerce in Nigeria, the zone is not immune to insecurity which is experienced in other parts of the country. Issues of arson, killings and kidnapping among others have taken its toll on the region.
At workshop of stakeholders in the zone on community policing, the Inspector General of police solicited partnership with community heads in fighting criminality in their domain.
He challenged the community heads to imbibe the culture of offering voluntary service to their community.
The IGP charged the participants drawn from the five south east states to inculcate the Concept of Constabulary Police recruitment which he attributed to as pure service without pay.
He called for synergy between the people and security agents particularly as the nation prepares for next year’s election,
The two-day workshop is meant to educate participants on their roles to nip Criminal activists in the bud.
