Defence Minister commends Army, promises on Security

Magashi Commends Army on Security, promises enhanced action on Evolving Security Threats

The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, says the country grapples with security threats that are constantly evolving.

He was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Defence Ministry at the Graduation of Participants of Course- 6 at the Army War College Abuja

The Minister, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd), tasked the graduands to bring to bear the knowledge and skills they have acquired to tackle the country’s security challenges.

It’s the end of nearly 9 months of training for these military and law enforcement officers.

73 of them are drawn largely from the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the Armed forces of other African countries

They undertook training in the management of the war, particularly in the areas of operational tactics, campaign planning, military leadership strategy, and inter-agency cooperation in military operations.

One after the other, the graduands file out to receive their awards.

This is coming at a time the country is grappling with security challenges that are constantly evolving.

A lot is expected from these officers.

They’ll have to deploy the knowledge acquired, in developing strategies that will improve the security in the country.

The establishment of the Nigerian Army War College which was championed by the Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, according to observers was a long due move which will enhance the capacity of the Nigerian Army to train its personnel to prepare better and react more professionally as the nation continues to face evolving threats.

The threats which varies from banditry to Terrorism, and Others have evolved over the last ten years to also include kidnapping for ransom, attack on Custodial facilities and Others.

Aside the establishment of the Army War College, the Nigerian Airforce and the Nigerian Navy have also established War Colleges different from the National Defence College to address personnel and Training shortfall in the Nigerian Military.
