The Nigeria Army has launched a new operation aimed at aiding it winning fight against terrorism in the country.
This was displayed in an exercise showing the tactical strength and military fire power at the Training Centre in Kontagora in Niger State.
The chief of Army Staff lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya is confident that this new offensive will spell doom for terrorists.
It will no longer be business as usual for terrorists challenging the sovereignty of the Nigerian state.
The chief of Army Staff is not mincing words in sending across a clear message to terrorists and their sponsors.
Since 2009 when the insurgency against Nigeria started, the military has evolved different strategies to combat the changing nature of the battle.
This time, it is launching exercise Mugun Bugu meaning deadly blow in Hausa.
There has been no doubt about the capacity of the Nigeria Army which is adjudged among the best land armies in world, yet saboteurs and poor funding have sabotaged it’s efforts.
These challenges are now being surmounted and this reflects in the recent string of victories the troops have been recording.
This exercise comprises of troops from all the Army training schools
They have been brought together to engage in a battle: the school of Armour, school of infantry, school of engineering, school of intelligence, school of logistics and the training and doctrine command.
The army chief says this the first of its kind and it will become part of the Force’s regular training.
This exercise was launched at the Nigeria Army Training Centre, Kontogora in Niger state.
The state governor is represented by the commissioner for internal security Emmanuel Umar.
The training programme and Joint exercise by all the Corps within the Army is part of efforts aimed at honing the Skills of Officers and men and also entrench synergy and joint operations within its ranks.
The nation currently faces Security challenges of diverse proportions and it will not be out of place for its Security forces to continue to evolve strategies top combat this evolving challenges especially from No-State actors.
