The names of 11 people killed by terrorists in Kaduna state have been released by the Kaduna government.
The Government confirmed the killing of 11 persons during an attack on Zaman Dabo village in Atyap Chiefdom, Zango-Kataf Local Government Area by terrorists in a statement issued on Sunday, by the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
Aruwan further confirmed that the terrorists razed at least 30 homes during the attack, which occurred early hours of Sunday.
He identified the victims as: Elizabeth Ayuba, Veronica Auta, Bege Daniel, Kephas Waje, Promise Jacob, Damaris istifanus, Hauwa Joshua, Dogara Gambo, Lidia Ishaya, Michael Achi, Gabriel Michael.
According to Aruwan, troops from the Nigerian Air Force Special Forces who reacted to a distress call during the attack “also fell into an ambush as they mobilized to the scene of the attack.”
The commissioner stated, “As of 4:30PM, eleven residents had been verified murdered, with some suffering from gunshot wounds.” The attack resulted in the destruction of around thirty residences and structures.
“The injured were evacuated for treatment. Search-and-rescue operations and pursuit of the attackers are in progress on different fronts”.
He said Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i condemned the killings and expressed sadness over the attack.
The attack brought the overall number of recorded deaths in Kaduna since 2022 to 32, while ten terrorists were killed during the same time period.
