The remains of the 100 Level Microbiology student of the University of Benin, Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, who was raped and killed in a church in Benin, has been laid to rest in Benin.
Omozuwa was buried amid tears as her family and friends expressed disappointment that six months after her death, justice has still not been served.
Omozuwa’s burial began with a funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Edo Province 10, Aduwawa, Benin City.
Her body was then taken to Third East Cemetery after the service for burial.
It will be recalled that the police had paraded 6 suspects in connection with the brutal rape and murder of Uwaila on the 25th oof August in Beni city with a promise to ensure that justice is done on the matter.
Commissioner of police for Edo State, Johnson Kokumo, had while parading the suspects said their arrest was made possible through a united effort on the part of the police though the suspects have not had their bday in court.
Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, had also promised that the perpetrators of the crime will be apprehended and face the full weight of the law but the wait for the trial continues even as the victim has now been buried.
