House of Reps moves to stop implementation of Bama Initiative funds

Reps in rowdy session over South East Devt Commission Bill

The House Of Representatives has moved a motion of urgent public importance, on the need to stop the implementation of the BAMA initiative by non-statutory committees.

This was raised during the plenary session at the floor of the House, where members raised the need for funds to be remitted to the Presidential Committee On North East Initiative , for proper execution.

The Federal Government constituted the Bama Initiative, to ensure it rebuild places in the North East ravaged by Boko Haram.

The projects are to be supervised under the Presidential Committee On North East Initiative (PCNI), to ensure the mandate of the government to return displaced persons back to their homelands.

The House Of Representatives has noted with dismay, complaints making rounds regarding the alleged diversion of funds appropriated for the North East Intervention meant to be domiciled and utilised by the PCNI.

They say,the sum of 28 billion naira from the PCNI account and 10 billion naira from consolidated pool account are not being moved through regulated financial flow systems.
