Kolga people plant trees to honour Isaac Boro

Kolga people plant trees to honour Isaac Boro

The Food And Agriculture Organization says Nigeria has lost about four hundred thousand hectares of land to deforestation.

A prime example is the arbitrary tree-felling practice common in parts of the country.

Ovieteme George reports that Environmental pollution and deforestation are still a common feature in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria forty nine years after the late Isaac Boro died trying to draw the attention of the world to the pitiable condition of his people.

A member of the Bayelsa state House of Assembly, Tonye Isenah wants the people of Kaiama to keep the Boro dream alive by flagging off the “GO GREEN KAIAMA” tree planting exercise in the ancient town.

Monarchs of Kolokuma/Opokuma kingdom and an environmentalist speak of the significance of the environmental project.
